DESPITE losing 15 pins on the first hand away to second bottom team White Hart B, Market A played steadily throughout the rest of the match to win by ten pins and become the Bridgwater Town Ladies’ Skittles League Division 1 champions.

Runners-up spot is still up for grabs.

Market C won at home by 34 against GWR Club A and are second in the division. They are three points ahead of Castle Club A who lost at bottom team Commercial Inn B by 13; Market and Castle Club have to play each other and if Castle Club win the two will have a rematch to decide the runners-up spot.

Highest scoring match last week was at Market D, who won at home by 26 against Crown Inn B. Jean Bray hit 70 for the Market and Lyn Searle 68 for the Crown.

The two bottom teams of Division 2 met at the Bridgwater Squib A; high scores for the home side were Tracey Fursland 61 and Sue Mills 60, while Margaret Selway hit 60 for the visitors Commercial Inn A who won by 2.

Blake Arms A, who lost at home to the Lion’s Club B (Tina Woodberry 64, Jenny Woodberry 60), now have to play Commercial Inn to decide who stays in the division.

Outstanding score in the division was Lyn Marshall’s 79 for Castle Club B. She hit a 25 on the last hand leaving their opponents who had been 17 pins up going to the last needing 55 to win which they got thanks mainly to Nicki Giles who had a 16 spare to win by one.

British Flag A are champions of Division 3 after they won at Sportsman by 32 thanks to Donna Hodge 73, who was anchor on the night, and Helen Innalls’ 63.

One point behind and runners-up are Bunch of Grapes, who won at British Flag B whose Mary Pollock hit 65.

Highest score in the division this week was Dee Buttle’s 73 for New Foresters A who won at home against bottom side Lime Kiln by 67.
