BRIDGWATER College’s Head of Sport, Jason Gunningham, has been appointed the new internal verifier for football provision in further education for the English Colleges Football Association (ECFA) and the Football Association (FA).

This new role has been developed by the ECFA and the FA as part of their ongoing strategy to use football as a vehicle for further education colleges to engage students in physical activity across all levels of ability and interests.

Gunningham said: “This is an exciting opportunity to engage with colleges across the sector to help and support them develop their level of football provision, and to share the high quality delivery we have at Bridgwater College.

“The ECFA/FA programme has a structured level of provision colleges can replicate and develop, so this role is about supporting and assessing colleges’ level of provision and the impact their football activity programmes are having.

“At Bridgwater College, our students can participate in football via full-time educational programmes, or via opportunities in officiating, administration, volunteering and coaching for all levels of abilities.

“Working across the further education sector will allow me to transfer best practice from other colleges into our provision as well, and enhance our student experience even further.”
