Sydenham Gems 43, Sharks 47
GEMS played Sharks in the knock-out cup and went down 47-43 in a hard-fought contest.
At the beginning of the first quarter, Gems found it hard to settle due to a few changes in the defence.
However, Gems’ centre Amy Witcombe worked well to bring the team together.
Sharks’ strong defence in the circle meant Gems’ shooters Hannah Clapp and Justine Pearn had to work extremely hard to get free for a shot at goal.
The second quarter saw a change in the attacking end with Paige Pople now playing WA.
The Gems’ defence of Beth Fella and Rachel Lawrence communicated well and made some great interceptions; Carly Martin put great pressure on her player throughout the entire game and got a well-deserved player of the match.
Umpires player was Amy Witcombe.
