Sidmouth & Ottery Ladies 3, Bridgwater Ladies 1
BRIDGWATER Ladies suffered a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Sidmouth & Ottery on Saturday.
Despite a promising start with several attacking moves, it was Sidmouth who took early an early lead with a penalty flick.
Some impressive passing continued to find Millie Burridge in space – and Bridgwater thought they had equalised only to see the goal ruled out.
At 1-0 down Bridgwater were confident they could get back into the game, but a series of decisions against them caused them to become unsettled.
Sidmouth’s second goal came after a spell of pressure from penalty corners – and further goalmouth action brought a fine reaching save from Amy Burridge after great defensive work by Donna Cooper and Rachel Lockwood.
Late in the game, Sidmouth got their third goal from a penalty strike.
This didn’t deter Bridgwater who fought to the end, but circumstances were unfortunately against them.
Bridgwater got a consolation goal late in the game through a great first-time shot from Charlie Lewis, which was then finished by by Hayley Greenwell.
