Gems, 68, Tomahawks 28

GEMS faced Tomahawks from Paulton on Saturday and after a defeat to their opposition earlier in the season, Gems were keen to hit back.

The first quarter was an even contest, with each side matching the other goal for goal - However, once Gems had found their feet they began to pull away.

With a number of turnovers and some great team play, Gems continued to dominate and piled on the points.

Man of thw match performances from Hannah Clapp, Justine Pearn and Danni Keirle ensured there was no way back for Tomahawks as Gems ran out comfortable winners.

Ambers 24, Spears 29

A STRONG start saw Ambers go into a 4-1 lead at the end of the fiesta quarter.

But Spears fought their way back into the contest to take the lead by the end of the second quarter in what was turning out to be a tight and hard-fought affair.

Ambers were being helped by some solid defending from Rachael Coles and Megan Scott, as well as some neat and accurate passing throughout the team.

Despite their determination and effort, Ambers were unable to regain the lead and the score ended 29-24 to Spears.

Hannah Wallis took the player of the match award for Ambers.

Emeralds 19, Vipers 34

EMERALDS took on Vipers from Paulton on Saturday and made a slow start to the game.

Heavy rain made conditions difficult for both sides, but some good work from Rheanne Lee, Rachael Coles and Clare Tottle soon managed to get Emeralds going.

But Paulton's strong and accurate shooting kept the Emeralds' defence busy at all times as they capitalised on mistakes.

Rheanne Lee took player of the match, but Paulton ran out winners by 34-19.

Venus 27, Rubies 60

RUBIES met with Bridgwater Venus for the second time this season and Rubies started well to pull into a 15-7 lead.


Although Venus centre court players Chris Shaw (WA), Chris Durant (C) and Hollie Cornish (WD) tried hard to progress the ball to the shooters Sarah Perry (GS) and Lilly Rowland (GA) they found themselves trailing at half-time 27-15.


Laura Coombes and Jess Knott were able to keep Venus shooters at bay, making some timely interceptions, allowing Mikki Hole, Emily Hoare and Sammie Brown to bring the ball forward - Abi Ridler and Lynne Cornish were then able to extend the lead further to 45-20.
Both teams slugged on in the rain, but Rubies were comfortable winners.


Gems 48, Millfield 39


GEMS started strongly, but with tight defending from Millfield, the first quarter finished 12 - 10. 　

Millfield continued to apply the pressure during the second quarter and Gems had to dig deep to maintain their lead, whilst applying great pressure on their opponents. 　


Timely interceptions from player of the match Amy Witcombe and great follow up of her shots from Justine Pearn kept Millfield at bay - and Gems battled on to the win.
