ONLY six games survived the weather again this weekend and three of them were played at Castle on the 3G artificial pitch.

Somerset Junior Cup The Taunton League still had three sides in the last sixteen of the Somerset Junior Cup, namely Bridgwater Sports, Sampford Blues and Staplegrove Reserves.

Sampford Blues lost out to Shepton Beauchamp 1-4, after Shepton had taken a two goal lead by the interval.

But substitute Ross Lawrence got one back after the re-start which gave them hope and they pushed forward for the equaliser but spurned some good chances.

A Shepton penalty made it 1-3 before a scorching long range effort made it four.

Staplegrove Reserves were 4-1 winners over Bristol side AFC Hartcliffe.

Grove took the lead on 25 minutes with a goal from Luke Webber as he coolly slotted past the 'keeper whyen put through.

Two minutes later Grove doubled their lead when Adam Smith took a long throw into the six yard box, skipper Chris Hadley drew the keeper and then headed square across goal to Scott Reynolds who was left an easy task to head home, for Grove to take a two goal lead into the break.

Hartcliffe stepped up the physical side of their game in the second half and got one back twelve minutes into the half with a good strike from a midfield player.

However all that did was inspire Grove into upping their game and just two minutes later Scott Reynolds put over a great cross from the right which went over the keeper to the far post, where Adam Smith out jumped his marker to head home to restore Grove's two goal cushion.

The tie was as good as settled a few minutes later when Scott again produced a brilliant cross from the right, it was going to land perfectly for sub Tom Miller to slot home but a defender put out a desperate foot to try and intercept it only to put the ball in his own net to make it 4-1.

In the Rowbarton Charity Cup, Morganians were comprehensively beaten by undefeated Division Two side Blagdon Hill, 8-0.

Ben Hebditch scored half of the Hillbillies goals, while James Bryce added two and Pat Sherwood and Liam Vaughan one each.

Milverton Rangers beat Norton Fitzwarren 7-3 in the Seward Cup, with Milverton taking a 3-2 lead at the break.

Norton lost their way in the second half conceding a few lightweight goals.

Scott Mervin and Steve Low scored for Norton and Dave Buckingham smashed home a 25 yard screaming volley.

On target for Rangers were Callum David with a hat trick, Dave Sharland, Brien Cosgrove, Jamie Wood and Harry Davies with one each.

Creech Cougars were 2-1 winners over Hamilton Athletic Foxes thanks to goals from Ali Poole and Carl Reed.

Scott Smith netted for the Foxes with a looping header, but they were unable to grab a second.

Staplegrove Colts have moved up to third after a 7-1 victory over Middlezoy Athletic.

Ian Bishop put Grove ahead from the penalty spot but Danny Russell levelled things up by half time.

Grove scored two more early in the second half but it was still and even contest until the last ten minutes, when the Cots added a further four.

On the score sheet were Kurtis Selway with a pair, Alex Sparks, Paul Short, Leighton Ballentine and Jason Quick with a lovely chip over the keepers head.
