IN Division 1 of the Highbridge & District Skittles League, there was a shock defeat for the leaders Bombers who suffered a rare defeat at The Bridge as they were out-gunned by the Cowboys who won by 20 pins.

Jamie Howson did the damage for the Cowboys scoring 77.

Bombers’ lead at the top has been reduced to two points as the Steamers close in after their 23-pin victory at the Victoria Hotel over the Snurgers. Chris Orledge topped the board with 76.

In Division 2, Social Club are two points clear after they scored 522 at the Berrow Club to dispose of the Radio Social by 58. Roger Quick 82, Steve Tindall 78 and Norman Quick 72 did the bulk of the scoring.

Odds and Ends remain in second spot after a very comfortable 69-pin victory at the Basonbridge Inn over the Wanderers. Odds and Ends skittler Dan Connelly started with five spares and finished up with 82, and Jerry Bird chirped in with 71.

At the Pawlett Legion, Dave Robertson had a fifth hand 24 double flopper, he scored 72, but his team, Misfits, were still beaten by the Crown Criminals who won by 42. Justin Melhuish top scoring with 78.

In Division 3, the top two teams met at the Crown Inn with Nobby’s One coming out as victors by 37s; they now join the Ghosttrains at the top.

Jim Wright 71, Paul Massey 70 and Steve Marshall 71 helped Rovers to a welcome win as they defeated the Bellends by 51 at Morlands Social Club.

Outcasts find themselves top of the pile after a scintillating performance at Lympsham Pavillion; they totalled 512 to beat the Lymp Dicks by 51.

Caine Harding 75 and Stuart Taylor 73 did the damage despite 76 from Grahame Hale for The Dicks.

White Rebels drop to second after they were beaten by Bridgemen at the Basonbridge Inn, going down by 13.
