Bridgwater Bucs through to play-off semi-finals against Taunton Revolution
Play-off Quarter Finals Bridgwater Bucs 65, Minehead Eagles 43 BUCS advance to the semi-finals to face Taunton Revolution after a solid win over the West Somerset counterparts.
However Bucs got out to a slow start, allowing the visitors to hit several three pointers and get a foothold on the game.
Jack Roberts (20 points) kept Bridgwater in the game with a solid shooting but a three-pointer just before the half gave Eagles the lead 30 - 27.
In the second half, Mark Schroeder (24 points), Kev Anderson and Tad Ulinas used their size and quick passing to put Bridgwater back in front and start to build up the lead and hold on for the win.
Earlier last week, Bridgwater Bucs beat Wells Warriors 90-71 in what is becoming a real grunge match up.
Right from the outset Bridgwater showed they meant business. Paul Yabsley (25 points) came out fired up, hitting several shots from long range. Strong inside play from Joe Mills and Kev Anderson (18 points) drew Wells into foul trouble early on allowing Bucs to build points from the free throw line.
Despite Bucs leading at halftime, Warriors were never far behind.
In the fourth quarter Bucs increased their speed on offence forcing the tiring Warriors to get back and defend.
MVP Jack Roberts (15 points) and Mark Schroeder joined in the scoring and helped defeat Wells by a score of 90 – 71 taking the league title for the second year running.
