Taunton and District Football League report
MIDDLEZOY Rovers Reserves will be representing the Taunton and District League in the final of the Somerset Intermediate Cup after they beat Interhound 2-1.
Jamie Temlett opened the scoring for Zoy but Interhound equalised just before the break and in the second half Aaron James scored the winner with an audacious chip over the keeper on 75 minutes.
They face the winner of Pen Mill or Pensford.
In Division One, Locomotives took the lead against North Petherton through Justin Dawe but Adam Wright levelled things up.
It was a great drive from Gary Edwards that eventually broke the deadlock and gained Locos all three points closing the gap on Staplegrove.
Sampford Blues were leading 1-0 against Bridgwater Sports thanks to an Ash Gaines goal when the match was abandoned on 71 minutes following a hail storm.
In Division Two, third placed Westonzoyland could have moved to runners-up spot had they beaten fourth placed Wembdon Saints but the game ended with honours even at 2-2.
Westonzoyland scored three of the goals, James Millard got both of his sides goals at the right end but sadly they conceded an own goal at the other where James Hatch had also netted for Saints.
Division Three saw leaders Blagdon Hill have a goal fest at Highbridge winning 12-0 and Stogursey came back to winning ways disposing of Bridgwater Sports Reserves 6-1 as Scott Clapp scored their consolation.
Merry Monk are still in second but looking over their shoulder at Stogursey’s games in hand after their 5-3 win over Redgate. George Dowse-Brenan and Craig Shirley both scored twice and Ryan Bradford once for Monk, Jack Hamblin also scored two for his side Redgate and Sam Granville getting their third.
Sydenham Rangers were flying leading 3-0 against Bishops Hull with goals from Jason Stephenson and Jamie Durrant and a Hull own goal but then the wheels came off and they ended up losing the game 3-6.
Wembdon had a 6-0 win over bottom side Williton with Si Lukins leading the way with four goals, Matt Kerton and Ben Chefey added one each.
Division Four, the only game to finish was a 4-2 home defeat for North Petherton Reserves against Alcombe Rovers Reserves in a late kick-off game due to their first team having played earlier in the day. Alcombe scored all their goals in the first half from Brian Buggy, Paul French, Pavel Gorski and Janusz Jasielczuk, James Baker and Josh Gracie replied for Pethy.
Division Five saw Woolavington move up to second after their 12-1 victory over East Bower, they started the day thinking it was going to be an away fixture but due to an unfit pitch they switched to their own ground to get the game played. Josh Corkett Simon Coombes and Harry Taylor all got hat tricks, Ollie Townsend, Gary Head and John Higgins added one each, Mike Watts scored Bower’s consolation goal.
Creech Coogars put seven past Bridgwater Grasshoppers who did get one themselves, Senna Clapp scored five of the goals and Cole Mehrlich the other two.
Middlezoy Athletic went down 1-3 at home to Nether Stowey Reserves, Ben Searle scored their goal but it was two strikes from Ben Enever and one from Jake Brown that gained Stowey the points.
Galmington Dragons Reserves against Wembdon Saints Reserves abandoned.
