Middlezoy through to semis after nine-goal thriller
Second Division Cup quarter finals
Congresbury 4, Middlezoy Rovers 5
MIDDLEZOY finished on the right side of a nine-goal thriller to reach the semi-finals of the second division cup.
After 35 minutes, Congresbury had found themselves 3-0 up but the game changed on 42 minutes after a piece of individual brilliance from Dan Luce and then on the stroke of half-time, Andy Smith converted a penalty to make it 3-2.
The second half saw the ever reliable Steve Hall equaliser with a delightful dinked finish and the turn-around was complete on 65 minutes when Andy Smith wriggled through a challenge and found the bottom corner for his second goal of the afternoon.
Congresbury made it 4-4 on 72 minutes but substitute Carl Tucker bamboozled two defenders and produced a typically cool finish found the bottom corner to seal the win.
Team: Baker, L Turner, Sc Turner, Robinson, Cann, Luce, Bone (Tucker), Whaites (Chorley), Smith, Atyeo (Wright), Hall.
