A BOXER from Puriton ABC is proving she is a cut above the rest after a successful display against Paige Goodyear from the West Midlands.

Leanne Thomas, 11, proved to be too technical for her opponent by using her excellent feet work and fast thinking.

After the three rounds of boxing all judges had Leanne clearly winning and gave Leanne the unaminous decision.

Head coach of Puriton ABC Michelle Garland said we can see Leanne going a long way in amateur boxing and sure she will one day win a national title if she keeps up the hard work.

Leanne's brother Cameron Thomas is now back in the gym after suffering two separate injuries and hoping to be fit for this year's junior ABA Championships.

Puriton Amateur Boxing Club is at Puriton Sports Centre and beginners nights are Monday 7.30-9pm and Thursday 6.30-8pm for age nine and over. It costs £3 for adults and £2 for juniors per session.

Call Michelle for more details on 07760-999427.
