TAUNTON Racecourse hosts its ever popular Landlords Day on Monday (March 11) – the day before the start of the Cheltenham Festival.

The first of the seven race card, with a very generous £44,000 on offer in prizes, goes to post at 2.20pm so another exciting afternoon of National Hunt action looks assured.

The feature race on the card is the Bathwick Tyres Veterans’ Handicap Steeple Chase, at 3.40pm a Class 2 event over three miles with a massive prize pot of £20,000.

The final race of the day, a Standard Open National Hunt Flat Race over two miles 5.20pm will be named after the Somerset hostelry which brings along the most racegoers to the course.

The prize is always keenly contested and was won last year by the Barley Mow at Rockwell Green.

Tickets can be bought at discounted prices if bought on-line at least 48 hours in advance by logging on to the website at www.tauntonracecourse.co.uk

A courtesy coach service departs from Taunton Railway Station an hour before the first race picking up at the Bus Station near the town centre shortly afterwards and departing from the racecourse 30 minutes after the final event.

Taunton race again on Monday, March 25, when the first race is due off at 2.20pm, and then on Thursday, April 4, starting at 2.10pm when no less than £100,000 will be on offer in prizes.
