Penalty win for Middlezoy Rovers Reserves
MIDDLEZOY Rovers Reserves held their nerve on penalties to see off Long Ashton Reserves in their Somerset Intermediate Cup fourth round match.
After two hours of play, neither sides could break the deadlock with both midfields nullifying the other.
So it went to penalties and at 3-3 Joe Warren made a good save to give his side the advantage which they took and eventually won the shoot out 5-4.
In league action, Division One saw Highbridge Town and North Petherton lock horns but there was nothing to separate the two sides as they drew 2-2.
Shane Jolly and Josh Gracie scored for Pethy with Chris Farley and Ryan Elliott doing the same for Town.
In Division Two, Westonzoyland against Appletree was the only game to survive in this division.
It was a slow start to the game but the home team took a 1-0 lead through Nathan Barnard before the break.
The second half was a different affair with Westonzoyland dominating and scoring three more times to go 4-0 ahead with goals from Andrew Evans, Jack Evett and Matt Evans before Craig Burnett got a late consolation for Appletree to make it 4-1.
