TWO of our sides had contests in the third round of the Somerset Junior Cup for a chance to be in the hat for the fourth round draw.

In the Rowbarton Charity Cup Round Two, it was one-way traffic as Alcombe Rovers beat Bridgwater Sports Reserves 5-0.

Meanwhile, in the Seward Memorial Cup Round Two, Redgate versus Rhode Lane Wanderers saw 19 goals. After 90 minutes the scores were level at 3-3 forcing extra time in which both sides scored with Redgate getting the last one to take the game to penalties. Redgate can thank their keeper Robbie Hallet who saved two Wanderers attempts to put his side in the hat for the third round winning the shoot out 6-5. Gav Dalley, Simon Fidoe, Phil Court and Alan Taite all scored in open play for Redgate, it was the day of the Patricks for Rhode Lane with Ben netting twice, Matt and Craig both adding one.

The Gallery put up a good fight against higher division opponents Bishops Hull but eventually lost the game 1-3 despite Andy Staunton's goal.

Wembdon Saints Reserves won the all Division Five encounter against East Bower 4-2, Brad Walford scored two, Matt Hall and Ryan Harris one each, the two Jacks Reed and Edwards replied for Bower.

In league action, Division One side Predators moved back to second spot after a 4-2 win over SRL Allsaints thanks to a Carl Jones hat trick and a goal from Ryan Weston despite Saints taking a 2-0 lead thanks to Darren Hill's header and Mark Pope who rounded the keeper.

There were eight goals in the game between North Petherton and Sampford Blues with Pethy winning 5-3, both Lewis Irish and Brady Hart scored a pair each with Daryl Murray adding the fifth.

In Division Two, Middlezoy Rovers Reserves are clear at the top of the table following their 2-1 victory over Bishops Lydeard Colts thanks to goals from Jamie Temlett and Martin Portlock.

Wembdon Saints have allowed a small gap to open up at the top of the table after their 1-1 draw with Porlock, Rob White scoring for Saints.

Westonzoyland beat Watchet Town 3-1 with James Millard netting twice and Matt Evans once, and Nether Stowey drew 3-3 with Staplegrove after goals from Ben Enever, Chris Young and Ricky Jones ensured they came back from 2-0 down to take a share of the points.

Division Three saw Wembdon and The Merry Monk shared the points with a 2-2 draw despite Ben Cheffey grabbing both Wembdon goals.

Sydenham Rangers were given a walkover after Williton could not raise a side.

In Division Four, North Petherton Reserves drew 1-1 with Milverton with Ben Brewer grabbing their goal.

And in Division Five, third place Woolavington had an easy day at the office, beating Bridgwater Grasshoppers 12-0 as Simon Coombes got four, Josh Corkett three, Will Pope and Harry Taylor two and Jonny Hurt one Middlezoy Rovers Athletic had a 2-0 away win at Nether Stowey Reserves, Sam Murray scored the first and Rueben Lee fired the second from 25 yards with a left foot cracker.
