Bridgwater Men's Elite Development Squad 2 Stroud & South Gloucestershire College 0

ADAM Long struck a magnificent volley from a Matt Redman throw in the first 15 minutes to set up another league win for the College's Men's Elite Development Squad against their Bristol rivals.

The game started well for Bridgwater as the midfield trio of Callum Kennelly, Matt Hurley and Ollie Chamberlain took control of the game and their sharp inter changes quickly put the Bristol team on the back foot.

Chamberlain put Lee Villis through on goal but his shot was saved and cleared for a throw in which in turn saw Long receive the ball on his chest inside the penalty and swivel and strike a perfect volley pass the static goalkeeper.

Stroud and South Gloucestershire College tried in vain to break past the resolute defence of Sam Hallett, Lewis Hembury, Matt Redman and Olli Clements but any attack was repelled.

The wet and sticky pitch did not lend itself to a fluid game but the winning goal from Chamberlain saw some imaginative interchange of passing from Hurley and Sam Anthony, who replaced the impressive Matt Connick, and from Anthony's slide rule pass Chamberlain bundled the ball past two off balanced defenders.
