Sydenham Emeralds 11, Kestrels 36
EMERALDS had a tough game against highflying Kestrels.
Michelle Martin worked hard in the centre of the court, linking well with Megan Walford and Carly Langdon and, defensively, Emily Hoare and Rachael Coles worked tirelessly, making several well-timed interceptions.
Alex Williams and Jo Bromme worked hard during the second half to create space in the court area, but Kestrels’ shooters were on form to win the match.
Player of the match: Emily Hoare.
Gems 35, Trident 41
GEMS pushed unbeaten Trident hard in a closelycontested game.
With the score remaining close throughout the first half thanks to great defensive work from Sue Bushnell and Kerry Hobbs, Helen Martin supported well throughout the court, finding shooters Hannah Clapp and Justine Pearn.
Trident managed to pull away to a nine-goal lead but, during the second half, Amy Witcombe and player-of-the-match Danni Keirle hassled their opponents strongly and made some great interceptions which resulted in goals for Gems, who reduced the deficit to six at the final whistle.
