CANNINGTON Sunshine Club: The meeting on March 27 began with a welcome from the chairman. One birthday was celebrated – Mrs D. Dickinson’s.

An outing has been arranged for Friday May 8 to Coldharbour Mill and Teignmouth.

Next week, there will be an Easter service in church, at 2.30pm.

Notice was given of the children’s performance of Jerusalem Joy on Thursday April 2 in the village church at 2.00pm.

Mr Collins organised a musical quiz, called Name that tune, for the afternoon session. Some pieces were recognisable almost immediately, such as Smoke gets in your eyes, Falling in love again, Some enchanted evening and I’ll be loving you always. It was a lovely romantic selection and most pleasing to listen to.

There were 25 pieces to identify and the winning team had 22 correct answers. Four other teams managed to identify 17 songs correctly. All were given small prizes.

The chairman thanked Mr Collins for a very relaxing and melodious interlude.

After the raffle and refreshments the meeting was closed.
