Sedgemoor Embroidery and Textile Group

THE Sedgemoor Embroidery and Textile Group meet on the second Monday of each month at St George’s Parish Centre, Wembdon at 7.30pm.

We have a varied programme throughout the year, with a running theme of embroidery, textiles and anything and everything associated with them. Meetings are informal, with refreshments and the chance to meet the speaker and socialise with other members and guests.

2009 got off to a good start on January 12, when Barbara Spicer gave a talk on mini workshop on ‘Goldwork’. We were soon busy putting together our gold beetles, while Barbara explained the various stitches and techniques of Goldwork and we worked.

The evening was over far too quickly and having completed our beetles at home, they’ll be on show in our Show and Tell on February 9.

Jenny Blackburn is our speaker in February. Jenny is going to give a talk entitled ‘All Dressed Up’, she will be explaining how the changing world of fashion influences her work, some of which is currently on show at the Brewhouse Theatre in Taunton as part of the Practical Studies Groups ‘not to be missed’ exhibition of textile art, ‘Creative Dialogues’.

If you are interested in having a go why not give me a ring for details of what’s needed, we are a friendly group and guests are always welcome (there is a small fee of £3.00 as a visitor or better still, why not join?)
