A LANGPORT girl who suffered from low confidence and self-esteem has won the title of Miss Somerset Galaxy UK.

Rose Aylward, 23, was chosen for the title after applying online and will now go forward to a national final in February where she will compete against girls from around the country to be crowned Miss Galaxy UK.

Miss Aylward said she was often bullied at school and had very few friend because of her accent and love for horses: “My upper-class accent, love of everything equestrian, and a natural shyness often encouraged children and teenagers to target me.

“Winning Miss Somerset has given me a boost like no other.”

Miss Aylward came across the competition while browsing online and decided to enter.

Now she wants to use her time as Miss Somerset to inspire other girls who are being bullied.

She said: “I want to let every other girl out there who feels undervalued, or unappreciated, or that they’re not good-looking enough, skinny enough, or popular enough, know that they are amazing women.

“I want to show them that if I was able to get out and do something like this, they are all capable of anything they want to do.”
