BUSINESSES in Taunton and Wellington are getting the chance to take part in a economic health check up.

Firms are being asked to take part in a survey sent out by Taunton Deane Council and other local authorities in Somerset to ensure they have the best possible chance of getting on.

In the current economic climate, the public and private sectors are having to do more for less.

And councils and their partners want to ensure they are providing the right conditions for businesses to grow and develop.

Council officials believe the short online questionnaire will help decision makers understand the key issues and aspirations of the business community.

The results from the survey will influence a wider assessment of the Somerset economy, which will be used as a critical tool in determining future investments in the county.

For business this should mean better targeting of investments to provide appropriate workspace, skills and business support services.

Cllr Fran Smith, economic development portfolio holder at Taunton Deane Council, said: “We really do value the thoughts and opinions of the business sector – their co-operation will directly inform activities carried out by the councils and their partners.

The confidential survey, which should take about 10 minutes to complete, can be accessed by clicking on the Survey related link on this story.
