A CRASH on the M5 Northbound between Burnham and Weston-Super-Mare is causing three-hour delays for motorists.
The hard shoulder plus lanes 1 and 2 have been closed and traffic is not expected to return to normal until this afternoon as emergency resurfacing needs to take place.
Travel time between the two junctions at 4.30pm was reportedly 180 minutes.
Paramedic at the scene Paul Clarke tweeted to say two lanes have been closed between Junction 21 and 20 after a collison between two lorries.
He said there had been no injuries in the accident but diesel had leaked across the carriageway.
Highways England said there will need to be emergency resurfacing works carried out on the stretch.
Buses of Somerset tweeted to inform its customers that the 21 and 21A are severely delayed due to the delays on the M5.
