AN EXHIBITION showcasing the artwork of home educated children from across Somerset has opened at Café Expresso in Taunton.

The children, aged between five and 14, have been studying art history with artist, Tracy Horstead, at special workshops in Taunton.

The exhibition features some of the pieces they have created over the past year.

Up on display is artwork inspired by Sonia Delaunay, Marion Bolognesi, Cath Hodsman, Picasso, Cezanne, Magritte, Gauguin and Mondrian.

Speaking at the exhibition launch on June 15, Tracy Horstead said: “It’s a real pleasure to work with these talented young artists.

"They have such passion and creativity. More children are joining us all the time which is great.”

Dean Hawker, owner of Café Expresso said: “We are really happy to be supporting this initiative.

"It’s fantastic to see so many families here enjoying the exhibition. The exhibition runs for a fortnight so people can pop in and enjoy some great art over breakfast, coffee, lunch or afternoon tea. ”

Felix Amos one of the children with art exhibited, said: “We all love Tracy’s art classes.

"They are so much fun. We’re all really proud of the work she has helped us create and can’t wait for classes to start again after the summer.”

Home-educated children who want to join the Art History Classes next term should get their parents to message Tracy at he.arthistoryclass@gmail.com
