THE perfect symbol of a short and precious life, Children’s Hospice South West has commissioned a commemorative butterfly to celebrate 25 years since it was founded.
The beautiful, handmade butterflies will be displayed in each of its three hospice gardens, and they are now available to buy on the charity’s website.
The limited-edition butterflies have been individually hand-crafted by Devon-based blacksmith Graham Cumes.
Emma Perry, senior community fundraiser at CHSW, said: "For however long a child is with Children’s Hospice South West, that time is filled with opportunities for fun and laughter, and our aim is to create very special memories for the family.
"These beautiful butterflies are the perfect way to celebrate short and precious lives, and after they have been displayed at our hospices, they will make a perfect garden decoration."
The limited-edition butterflies are a vibrant array of yellow, turquoise and light blue with a sparkling silver undercoating.
All purchased butterflies will form special installations at each hospice garden, including Little Bridge House in Devon, in early April and on display until the end of September.
They will then be packed up and posted out to purchasers in a special commemorative box during October 2016.
Priced at just £15, they will make a beautiful addition to any garden – or even a window box.
