Nominations have flooded in for this year's celebration of high quality care in Somerset, the Care Awards 2016.

Claire Waddon CEO at Care Focus said: "The Care Quality Commission recently commented ‘Everybody has a right to good care. Much attention is rightly focused on poor care, but it's also important to recognise where care is good and to celebrate the services that are getting it right.’ Now in its 9th year, this is what the Care Awards are all about!

"Unfortunately, the media attention that care attracts is often when things have gone wrong, so we are delighted that the County Gazette and Albert Goodman have joined us in promoting and celebrating the excellent care and health service provision that happens throughout the day and night.

"We have received a record amount of nominations from individuals and organisations across the public, private, voluntary and community sectors and standard of nominations received is exceptionally high.

Finalists will be announced around the end of February.

Claire added: "We would like to thank all those who have taken the time to submit nominations and those who have supported us in making this wonderful event, possible."
