BOTH South West Trains and First Great Western expect to run a normal planned service over the bank holiday after the rail unions strike was called off.

Members of the RMT and TSSA unions received a revised offer leading to the strike which was expected to cause severe issues on Monday and Tuesday to be called off.

Both of the two main train operators in the area have now stated they expect to run a full service.

South West Trains have said they will be running a full planned service on Monday and Tuesday, with a Saturday service on Monday and a normal weekday service on Tuesday.

First Great Western have said they expect to run a full service.

A statement from First Great Western said: "We welcome the agreement reached between Network Rail and the RMT and TSSA unions. This will come as a huge relief to millions of our customers choosing to travel over the Bank Holiday weekend and to the communities that we serve. We expect to run services as normal."
