BUSINESSES in the Taunton and Wellington area can find out how to attract investment over the internet.

A national ‘crowdlending’ master class is taking place in Wellington, providing firms with an introduction to crowd financing and its benefits as an alternative source of finance.

Organised by the Somerset Chamber of Commerce, it is part of a national programme of sessions offered by the British Chambers of Commerce and is open to members and non-members.

Somerset Chamber chief executive Neil Murphy said: “Crowdlending is becoming an increasingly popular route to finance for many businesses, enabling them to raise money through the internet to finance or refinance their activities.

“It brings together individuals who are looking for a return on their investment with businesses that need finance at a sensible price.

“This masterclass will provide an opportunity for Somerset businesses to learn more about these alternate sources of funding and the great benefits they can bring.”

The event is being delivered in association with crowdlending provider ArchOver, which links investors looking for a secure return with businesses wishing to raise working and development capital.

ArchOver chief executive Angus Dent said: “Small businesses are the mainstay of the British economy but with banks not always able to meet their capital needs, there is a growing demand for alternative sources of funding.

Anyone wishing to attend the event at the Cleve Hotel on Wednesday, March 11, should contact the chamber.
