A PENSIONER who completed a half marathon and Sunday and is currently on a 100-mile walk, plans to round off an energetic week by running another half marathon this weekend.

Rick Deane is raising money for the Children’s Hospice South West in memory of his son, Kierran, who died in 2003 aged six.

Kierran’s immune system had not developed as a baby and his body rejected a bone marrow transplant.

Rick, 65, clocked a personal best of just over two hours at the Bristol Half Marathon on Sunday before heading off today (Monday) on the 100-mile trek, which will pass through Bicknoller, Wheddon Cross, Exford and Simonsbath.

He is being joined across the Somerset Levels by members of The Ramblers.

He will end up at the CHSW near Barnstaple this Sunday, when he plans to run the local half marathon.
