MORE than 50 children from Sedgemoor Manor primary school have taken part in a Mini Olympic Games event at Bridgwater College.
Second year college students studying the BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Sports Development, Coaching and Fitness arranged the event for the Y4 primary school pupils.
The mini-athletes were divided into five teams, each representing a different country. The teams, which were each led by a student, competed in a variety of events ranging from hurdles to hoopla.
The day concluded with all the teams taking part in a fancy dress assault course and it was Team USA which finally took the Olympic Gold, presented during the closing ceremony.
Toby Dean, Programme Manager for the BTEC Level 3 in Sports Development, Coaching and Fitness programme at the College, said: “This was an invaluable experience that enabled the students to gain the management, communication and organisational skills required to work in the sports industry.”
Mr Burman, Deputy Head Teacher of Sedgemoor Manor Primary School, added: “What a successful, well organised and enjoyable occasion.
“I’m already looking forward to next year’s event!”
