WILDLIFE artists of the future from Sedgemoor made an exhibition of themselves at a painting competition run by the Quantock Hills AONB.

Children from various local schools were invited to draw any form of life found on the Quantock Hills – so elephants and lions were not allowed!

A panel of judges, including professional artists Liz Gregory and Sally Clarke along with members of the Quantock Hill AONB team, leafed through the 200 outstanding entries to choose the best.

Finally they awarded the following youngsters prizes: quantock4*Alex Jones from Bishops Lydeard Primary School; quantock2 *Ella McMurren from Nether Stowey Primary School; quantock5*James Della Valle from Bishops Lydeard Primary School; quantock3*Alisha Booker from Stogumber Primary School; Other winners in their school groups included: Tai Holloway, Natasha Mayell and Charlotte Steele from Nether Stowey Primary School, Phebe Denton from Stogumber Primary School, and Daisy and Issabelle from Enmore Primary School.

An exhibition of all the participants’ work took place at Fyne Court in Broomfield throughout August.

Iain Porter, acting manager of the Quantock Hills AONB, said: “We were all delighted with the very high standard of submissions and the children’s observation of the diverse life to be found on the Quantock Hills AONB.”
