PUPILS from Sedgemoor Manor Junior School in Bridgwater were judged to be the best from 200 children who entered a wildlife competition.
The youngsters enjoyed a trip to Barrington Court near Ilminster to learn more about orchard produce and wildlife as part of the Kingfisher Award.
This year’s theme was orchards and their wildlife and pupils from seven local primary schools made displays about what they had learned.
Judges agonised over the decision but children from the Bridgwater school were declared winners and were handed a trophy and a day out at an orchard.
Organiser Michael Brown said: “I was amazed by the enthusiasm of the children and their vibrant and imaginative displays. It made the project so rewarding for all concerned.”
