OVER 30 awards were handed out at Penrose School’s Achievers of the Year awards ceremony.
The event was attended by many parents and school governors.
Head teacher Liz Hayward said: “This is one of my favourite days in the school year, a day when we can truly celebrate learning.
“In our country we’re not the best at saying ‘well done’ and ‘congratulations’ when people succeed and achieve.
“We’re a little different at Penrose School. We love it when our pupils do well.
“We want to use words like ‘wow’, ‘brilliant’ and ‘excellent’ when our pupils make progress; whether it is a small, medium or big step in their learning, we think it deserves to be celebrated.”
Daniel Cooper was named Penrose’s achiever of the year, while Shane Stripp won the Kimberley Parker “have a go” award, an award donated by the parents of Kimberley, a popular student who left Penrose last year.
