STAFF and pupils at St Mary’s School in Bridgwater said a fond farewell to long-serving music teacher Jill New.
Literature lover Jill has taught at the school for 28 years but has now decided to pack away the instruments to enjoy a well-earned retirement.
Over the years pupils have been encouraged to sing confidently and enthusiastically, as well as being introduced to a wide range of music, from classical to modern.
Some of the school’s former students returned for Jill’s last day and everyone sang some of her favourite songs during the final assembly, before rounding off the celebration with a tea party.
