BRIDGWATER College coordinated a successful pilot workshop for the newly launched South West of England Fashion and Textiles Skills-Share Network.
The aim of the workshop was to help people share good practice and skills, and respond to the specialist skill needs of small businesses in the industry.
College trainer assessor Chrissie Cottle presented various sessions, sharing her wealth of knowledge and skills of working with textiles with members of the network.
She said: “We have found from our work within the sector that many people operate micro-businesses and don't get many opportunities to get together with other organisations working in the same sector to network or share ideas and best practice.
“We have also found that many of the traditional textile skills such as sewing techniques, are being lost in a generation of older people retiring from the sector. Hopefully everyone found it a really useful first opportunity to meet and will continue to support the network.”
