LANGUAGE students from Bridgwater College have recently achieved numerous awards after competing in the online Language Perfect World Championships, placing Bridgwater College third in the UK for French in schools.
The competition, now in its fifth year, attracts more than 300,000 language students from around the world who complete the competition over the course of 10 days.
Fifteen students studying languages at either A Level or as part of the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme at Bridgwater College, answered a staggering 48,881 questions during the competition.
Four students who study French at the College excelled, with Olivia Reed gaining a credit award for achieving 724 points, Ellis Hillman, accomplished a bronze award with 1,675 points, and Anna Weston scored an impressive 6,379 to secure a gold award.
Jess McAlister, former student of Haygrove School in Bridgwater, was awarded an elite award for accumulating an astounding 10,360 points, securely placing the college third in the UK for French in schools.
Jess McAlister, said: “I found the competition very useful as it helped me to focus on my listening and reading skills in French, as well as accurate spelling. The flexibility of the programme encouraged me to log-in frequently.”
