THE community garden in West Street will soon have a new mural thanks to the artistic talent of a Haygrove School student.

Year 8 pupil Madaline Rossiter had her design chosen to adorn the outdoor space that was opened last year.

Students at the school were asked by PC Tony Freeman of Bridgwater Police to submit their canal-themed designs after the popularity of the fairground mural designed by fellow Haygrove student Tegan Waterman that can currently be seen in the West Street garden.

PC Freeman has overseen the West Street Communtiy Garden project converting the space into an outdoor area for nearby residents to enjoy.

Designs by Leia Nicholls and Ruby Faun were also highly commended. by PC Freeman and the students, with a group of local primary school children, will be painting the design on the garden wall in early June.

Miss Chapman, Art & Textiles teacher at Haygrove School said: “The students have really enjoyed being involved in this project.

“It is wonderful for them to see their own artwork transferred to a public space for everyone to enjoy.”
