HAYGROVE School students attended a Low Carbon Energy Week at Exeter University.

As well as talks from experts, the four engineering enthusiasts worked alongside other youngsters from the region on a wide range of challenges including constructing a model of an hydro-electric windmill, devising an ‘energy mix’ plan to meet the future energy needs of the UK and exploring low carbon energy sources and team-building challenges.

They were also given a presentation skills workshop to help them understand how to communicate their ideas to other people.

Kate Bancroft, Amy Miller, Alex Howe, David Goddard and Andrew Brentnall were part of a group of 50 south west students  who attended the event.

On the final day, Kate was selected as one of four particularly outstanding students recognised for their exceptional potential and engagement throughout the four days.
