LAST week all the classes at Catcott Primary School joined together to celebrate Chinese New Year.

Some students from Crispin School joined in too and helped the children to learn the art of calligraphy.

The day saw pupils get arty with Chinese paper art, a geography quiz, Tai Chi and green screening as well as Lion Dancing.

Bridgwater Mercury:

LOTS of fun was had with the Chinese dragon.

There was even a lesson in Mandarin delivered by a local Mandarin teacher who will now be teaching Mandarin to Year 3 children on a weekly basis.

Catcott pupil Saffron Coombes said: “I liked calligraphy because I like learning how to write in different languages.”

Fellow pupil Katie Henderson added: “I enjoyed the lion dancing because you got to make a dance using a costume dragon.”
