OVER 100 new engineering students from Bridgwater College experienced the “Bridgwater Advantage”, at both the college’s Activity and Energy Skills Centres.
The Bridgwater Advantage aim to give students a broader skill set in key areas, by helping them to become effective communicators, work well within a team, set high aspirations, build confidence and adopt independent learning.
The students took part in a series of team building exercises using high and low rope activities, which challenged them to step outside their comfort zone, and unlock their potential.
Rory Wise, 16, from Bridgwater, said: “We had a really enjoyable day and it was a good way to start the course. It was a good chance for all of the students to get to know each other.”
Chris Hunt, programme manager for the Engineering Level 3 Extended Diploma, said: “The opportunity to give our engineering students such a fantastic experience to work as a team, bond as a group and develop these vital skills, will enable them to maximise their potential on the course and future destinations.”
