WESTOVER Green Community School in Bridgwater is celebrating receiving the Eco-Schools Green Flag.
It is the culmination of five years of hard work by everyone at the school.
Tasks have included recycling everything from paper to fruit and vegetable waste, composting, litter-picking and reducing electricity and water usage.
The school council and gardening club have also helped to make compost, and the school has bought eco-friendly benches and started extra games clubs at lunch-times.
Eco-team and school council co-ordinator Rebecca Hawkins said: “It’s been a brilliant experience seeing pupils and adults growing in confidence as they’ve worked together as a team, to achieve this award for the school.”
The school thanked Jewsons in Bridgwater for giving the flag pole and Harris and Collard for installing it.
