Connaught 'will honour Sedgemoor repairs service'

HOMES in Sedgemoor says crisis-hit firm Connaught will continue to carry out repairs to the 4,200 homes it manages across the district.

Connaught, which has provided Homes in Sedgemoor's repairs service since April 2009, has this week been placed in administration.

A Homes in Sedgemoor spokesman said: "The immediate priority for Homes in Sedgemoor is to ensure that an effective repairs service is maintained on behalf of our 4,200 households.

"We have made arrangements with Connaught to ensure that our repairing obligations continue to be honoured.

"This is currently happening but we will continue to monitor the situation very closely.

"It is our hope that Connaught can overcome their present difficulties and we have taken steps to support the organisation.

"Our number one priority is to ensure that an effective repairs service is provided to our customers.

"If required, an alternative contingency plan has been devised and can be swiftly implemented.

"Homes in Sedgemoor customers are also being advised of the present situation when they contact our customer services team.

"This arrangement is enabling customers to receive direct and clear information in respect of the arrangements we have put in place."

Administrator Richard Heis said: “We will work closely with customers, employees, subcontractors and alternative providers to ensure services are maintained as far as possible and contracts and employees are transferred to alternative providers.”
