Wessex Water responds to business complaints

WESSEX Water has responded to complaints from businesses in North Street in Bridgwater who claim they have been badly affected by the roadworks outside their doors.

The water firm said it had visited the companies affected before the work started, and had tried to keep disruption to a minimum during its £10million Operation Clean and Clear project.

A spokesman said: “Wessex Water personally visited businesses in North Street before work began to give traders an opportunity to feed back any concerns.

“The water main network which supplies the street is complex so it was challenging to identify exactly which properties would be affected by water supply interruptions.

“Businesses which rely on water to trade were advised that a temporary supply would be available during the work to ensure any supply interruptions would not adversely impact their customers.

“Fortunately in this case supplies to many businesses were maintained and passing trade continued as North Street was open to traffic travelling westbound.”
