Youths caught over Brick and Tile Museum attack

POLICE say four youths aged 12 to 14 were responsible for damage to Bridgwater’s Brick and Tile Museum last month.

The Mercury reported how shuttering was pulled down and bricks and tiles were smashed against the walls of the Grade I listed building during the attack on August 8.

Police say one of the youths was arrested and received a final warning, while the others were reported to the youth justice department.

A police spokesman described the attack as “totally unacceptable” and thanked Mercury readers for their help in solving the crime.

A final warning has this police force gone soft or something, just as we all predicted, a slap on the wrist and this yob will be off doing his dasterdly deeds somewhere else. If they are this young send the bill for the repairs to their parents, MAYBE, JUST MAYBE, they will then take an intrest as to where their offspring are, and what they are getting up to. The stocks on Cornhill seems a a good idea coming fast in my mind, stick all four on Cornhill for half a Saturday in the stocks with a placard saying what they have been up to far more effective than this namby pamby police force attempts, if it is a final warning, this yob has been in trouble before!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Strange that,,considering all the youths were on CCTV on skateboards going up and down the path then clearly seen picking up bricks and throwing them at the cameras and actually doing all the damage and one youth looking staight into a camera..!!

Its time the restriction was lifted on identifying under age criminals let everyone see who they are and yes send the bill to the parents and if they are on benefits take the money straight out of their benefit at source !!! it's time the police and the courts took a stronger stand on these people.

If they were allowed to speak their mind I am sure you would find that the majority of police officers would agree with the comments.

In a lot of cases their hands are tied by the system they have to work under and by the instructions they are given from above.

There can be nothing more frustrating or soul destroying than spending hours or days investigating a crime to find the offenders let off with a slapped wrist.

What we need are more police officers out on the streets not less and laws that punish offenders when they are caught.

Unfortunately we appear to live in the era of the politically correct do-gooders who think a slap on the wrist and “don’t do it again” is punishment.

It not

a final warning...yeah that'll do it!!
perhaps the justice system should make them help repair what they have damaged.

I feel sorry for the police who see some out of touch idiot in a wig let people off for their crimes.

Niceties over...get the stocks LOL

If it was one of my kids, first would be a good hiding, second would be a public apology of some sort. Name and shame them. Some one knows who they.
Stick them on a facebook page for Bridgy.
