MP given "no assurances" over Somerfield depot's future

BRIDGWATER MP Ian Liddell-Grainger says The Co-op gave him no assurances over the future of the Somerfield depot at Huntworth when he contacted them about Tuesday's Mercury report suggesting it could close next year.

Mr Liddell-Grainger said: “The Co-op insist no decision has been taken but they have not given me any reassurances whatsoever. I think the Mercury has got it right and I think it will close.”

Ok, so ILG has seen an issue, and has followed it up. And has closed the loop here and let the Mercury know. I would like to say I think he's done a good job here. I would also bet that soon enough there will be people moaning he's not done enough. Let's just keep focussed on the fact that it's Somerfield making the decisions here, not Mr Grainger. Business decisions, which, in a free market, they're perfectly entitled to do.
