A FORMER Stawell School pupil is on the look out for his old classmates for a special reunion this June.

Chris Stabbins, of Branchflower Farm, North Petherton, was amazed after receiving a copy of the Mercury from July 26, 1955, featuring a school photograph of him and his classmates on the front page.

The paper brought back treasured memories for Chris, 61, and he quickly came up with the idea to hold a reunion at Stawell village hall in July this year.

Chris left the area at the age of 18 but has now moved back to Sedgemoor to be closer to his family.

He said: “I have heard Angela Gabriel and Elizabeth Crabtree still live in the area but I would like to see if there are any more from the class around.

“I am hoping to hire the hall for the event around the date to mark 55 years since it was taken.”
