AN established Bridgwater fencing company celebrated its 25th anniversary by treating staff to a weekend break to Bruges.
In 1983, the Mercury reported on the takeover of the Barhams Close-based Coates Fencing and owner Melvin Tolchard has enjoyed 25 successful years there ever since.
Melvin has treated his staff on each significant anniversary but this year he decided to thank his hardworking fleet with a trip aboard the cruise ship Oceana to the Belgian city.
The excited employees set off from the Bridgwater warehouse and travelled to Southampton to board the luxurious ship before setting sail across the Channel, where they enjoyed a fantastic mix of culture and shopping.
Melvin said: “We were very well looked after on board and we all had a fabulous time.
“The weather was incredible for the time of year and I even missed an on-board Broadway show because of spending too much time in it.
“It is nice to say thank you to the staff for all their efforts in a different way. I must say I haven't had the chance to think about what we will do for our 30th anniversary!”
