STUDENTS from a Bridgwater school are supporting a national charity which aims to fight genetic disorders.

Pupils from Haygrove School swapped their normal school trousers and skirts for a pair of jeans in aid of Jeans for Genes day.

They raised over £565, with a further £300 donation going to the school's Amnesty International Group.

For the Year Seven pupils the event was their first full school fundraiser at Haygrove since joining in September.

Jeans for Genes Day provides funding for the care and support of children with genetic disorders through a grant programme.

Each year the event offers funding to a range of charities.
