MOURNERS packed into St Mary’s Church in Bridgwater to remember the lives of a young couple who died in a car crash.

Sophie Lack, 19, and Luke Porter, 22, pictured right, both from Bridgwater, died in a collision on the A38 at Thurloxton on Sunday, September 30.

Police say they were in a Vauxhall Astra heading from Bridgwater to Taunton which lost control and hit a tree.

Mourners at Friday’s (October 12) service wore an item of red clothing to remember Luke and items of pink to remember Sophie.

Sophie’s family said she was a loving daughter, step-daughter, sister, niece, granddaughter and cousin.

In a statement they said: “Sophie will be sadly missed by all her family and friends.

“She was a bubbly, kind and loving person who cared about everything and everyone.”

Luke’s parents, Patricia Jenkins and Andrew Porter, said he was a loving son and a loving brother to Kirsty.

Luke and Sophie worked at Robert Wiseman Dairies in Bridgwater, where a company spokesman said their loss had shocked everybody at the factory.

Writing on Facebook after the service, the couple’s friend Rebecca Earl said: “What a beautiful send-off for Luke and Sophie.

“It still doesn’t seem real. Many tears were shared by many people. Heaven has gained two more angels and two more shining stars.”
