YOUNG people from a youth project have helped to raise more than £300 for a charity which provides care for premature and sick babies.
Members of Somerset Rural Youth Project’s National Citizen Service social action group organised and took part in a 10-mile walk along the Bridgwater to Taunton Canal for Bliss.
Youth Worker Julie Rickwood said: “It has been an absolute privilege to work with the Free Walkers group. “They have shown great attitude and dedication to their social action group for a charity which has touched members of the group in a significant way.”
Supported by funds from 02, the Free Walkers designed and organised t-shirts, a banner and secured a range of fantastic prizes from local businesses in Bridgwater for a raffle. The Free Walkers held a refreshments and cake stall at the halfway point, with kind permission from The Boat and Anchor. The event raised £324.71 in total.
