TICKETS are selling fast for this year’s Carnival Concerts as organisers look to future generations to carry the tradition forward.

Bridgwater’s Carnival Centre, next to the Town Hall, began selling tickets on Saturday for the concerts from October 1-13 which will give spectators a taste of this year’s procession.

Bridgwater Carnival President Pete Bastin told the Mercury there would be a few exciting changes this year.

He said: “We will be premiering a dress rehearsal on the Sunday and are approaching schools and care homes to see if they would like to see it.

“The idea is to get the schools more involved as they are the next generation.”
The Carnival has also moved from a Friday to a Saturday for a three-year trial period in an effort to attract more people, donations and sponsors.

Mr Bastin added: “We’ve had some really great sponsorship deals since changing the date. I’m hoping more people will be able to come along and enjoy the fun.

“People have been practicing hard for the concerts for the last two months and the effort they put in is amazing.”
