Anne and Maurice celebrate Diamond year at Cannington

A COUPLE from North Petherton have celebrated their Diamond Wedding Anniversary with a party attended by 40 family and friends.

Anne Loveridge, 86, and Maurice Loveridge, 89, both grew up in Bridgwater and heard moving speeches from family at a meal at Blackmore Farm, Cannington.

Daughter Lynne Marlborough said: “They were really pleased everyone could come. They had a big cake, and my dad gave a speech and presented my mum with flowers.

“They met at a skittles match at what was once the New Inn in Cannington. My dad was from Cannington and my mum was from North Petherton.

“I’m their only child but they have two grandchildren – one was there for the party.”

Lynne said the couple attributed their long marriage to ‘give and take’.
